About the Role

Caldera is hiring Marketing Interns for a short-term, hands-on programme supporting the pilot launch of a new on-demand services marketplace in Lagos.

This is field-and-phone marketing, not desk research: you will recruit and register service providers, sign up early consumers, run small activations in neighbourhoods and estates, and feed what you learn back to the product and marketing teams every week.

The role is contractual at first (3-month internship, extendable) with a monthly stipend, and can be made permanent subject to performance as the pilot scales. A diploma (OND) is sufficient; HND and degree holders are welcome, and fresh, career-starting graduates may apply.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Provider Recruitment
  • Identify, approach and register service providers (cleaners, drivers, artisans, cooks and other everyday services) onto the marketplace, guiding them through sign-up and verification
  • Explain how the platform works, what customers expect, and how providers get paid
  • Early Consumer Acquisition
  • Sign up early consumers in target neighbourhoods, estates and workplaces; run small activations and referral drives
  • Collect first-order feedback and hand it to the product team
  • Field Marketing and Content
  • Support activations, flyer and WhatsApp campaigns, and simple social media content from the field
  • Capture photos and short testimonials with consent
  • Reporting
  • Keep daily sign-up logs and a weekly summary: providers registered, consumers signed up, conversion by channel, blockers heard on the ground
  • Attend the weekly pilot review and act on agreed follow-ups

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Education
  • OND (Ordinary National Diploma) or above in Marketing, Business, Mass Communication or a related field — HND and degree holders are welcome
  • Fresh, career-starting graduates may apply; no prior work experience is required
  • People-First Communicator
  • Confident approaching strangers, explaining a new service simply, and following up until a registration is complete
  • Clear written and spoken English; Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or Pidgin is a strong plus for field work in Lagos
  • Mobile and Organised
  • Comfortable with WhatsApp, Google Forms / Sheets and a smartphone-based registration flow; keeps accurate daily records of contacts, sign-ups and follow-ups
  • Lagos-Based and Available
  • Able to work on-site and in the field across Lagos for the duration of the programme, including some Saturdays during activations
  • Self-Starter
  • Takes a weekly target seriously, asks for help early, and is honest about what is and is not working on the ground
